M\u00e1laga is a wonderfully vibrant city with in the center many stores<\/strong><\/span>, restaurants<\/strong><\/span>, cafes<\/strong><\/span> and historical attractions<\/strong><\/span>. The historic center, M\u00e1laga Centro<\/strong><\/span>, which includes the Museo Casa Natal de Picasso<\/strong><\/span> and the city park Parque de M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/span>, contains a wealth of thousands of years of history. Thus Roman remains and Arab architecture give the heart of the city a special appearance.<\/p>\n

In addition to Roman and Arab influences, you will also find many traces of the Moorish period. The Moorish fortress Alcazaba de M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/span> is one of the attractions of Andalusia and is a must-see (tip: book your tickets in advance to avoid queues).<\/p>\n

At the foot of the Alcazaba fortress lies an ancient Roman amphitheater<\/strong><\/span> and next to the fortress is the Gibralfaro castle<\/strong><\/span>. A climb to the top takes about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

Interested in museums? Besides the Museo Casa Natal de Picasso, the following museums are well worth a visit: Centre Pompidou M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/span>, Museo de M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/span> and Carmen Thyssen<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Marbella stands for luxury<\/strong><\/span> and jet set<\/strong><\/span>. With about 77000 inhabitants, it is, after M\u00e1laga, the second largest city on the Costa del Sol. Not only the rich and famous, but also the modal vacationer can find his liking here.<\/p>\n

The old center is the focal point of Marbella. It can best be described as stylish, with beautiful boulevards<\/strong><\/span>, parks<\/strong><\/span>, gardens<\/strong><\/span> and of course many stores<\/strong><\/span>.
The famous marina Puerto Ban\u00fas<\/strong><\/span> is definitely worth a visit. You will find the most beautiful yachts in all the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

By the way, have you ever visited the center of Marbella at night? When night falls, Marbella really comes alive. Places like the Patio de Los Naranjos<\/strong><\/span> are then filled with terraces<\/strong><\/span> and lively crowds. Of course, even during the day, the Patio de Los Naranjos is an excellent place to linger among the shady orange trees and subtropical plants.<\/p>\n

Also in Marbella you have access to many museums such as the El Museo del Bons\u00e1i<\/strong><\/span>, archaeological museum<\/strong><\/span> and the engraving museum Museo del Grabado Espanol Contemporaneo<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

El Caminito del Rey, the King’s Trail<\/strong><\/span>, is a footpath<\/strong><\/span> of about 7.5 km (allow for 3 to 4 hours of walking)<\/strong><\/span> that runs through beautiful nature and along steep cliffs with fantastic views of the El Chorro gorge<\/strong><\/span>. The construction<\/strong><\/span> of the path began in 1901<\/span><\/strong> between the hydraulic power plants of Gaitanejo<\/span><\/strong> and El Chorro<\/span><\/strong>. The path was put into use in 1905<\/strong><\/span> by mainly workers who were working in the power plants.<\/p>\n

In 1921<\/strong><\/span> came then King Alfonso XIII<\/strong><\/span> visited and the trail has been called El Caminito del Rey or King’s Trail ever since.<\/p>\n

Over the years, however, due to inadequate maintenance, the path became increasingly dilapidated as less and less was used and in 1992<\/strong><\/span> it was even closed<\/strong><\/span> because safety could no longer be guaranteed.<\/p>\n

In 2014<\/strong><\/span> the path was restored<\/strong><\/span> and in 2015<\/span><\/strong> it was reopened<\/strong><\/span> to the general public.<\/p>\n

El Caminito del Rey is an attraction not to be missed (less suitable for people afraid of heights).<\/p>\n

Tip: Keep in mind that you need to arrive about an hour in advance for the start of the walk.<\/p>\n

One of the most beautiful cities in Andalusia is Ronda. The city is located in a mountainous area<\/strong><\/span> at an altitude of 750 meters<\/strong><\/span>.
The Guadalev\u00edn river<\/strong><\/span> splits the city into 2 making a deep gorge<\/strong><\/span>, the Tajo de Ronda<\/strong><\/span>, was created. It is immediately this gorge that has made Ronda famous.<\/p>\n

Ronda’s history as a state goes back to prehistory and the Celtic period<\/strong><\/span>. Later Ronda was under the Roman rule<\/strong><\/span> Ronda became a bustling commercial centre called ‘Arunda’<\/strong><\/span> or in other words ‘Around’<\/strong><\/span>. This name was given to the town because it was strategically located higher than the rest of the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

Ronda, too, like the rest of southern Spain, could not escape the Moorish domination<\/strong><\/span>. Moorish influences can still be seen frequently today in the many historic buildings in the city.<\/p>\n

In 1485, the city came back into the hands of the Christians and many old buildings adapted to a new Christian role. In the following century, Ronda also became home to the La Real Maestranza de Caballer\u00eda de Ronda<\/strong><\/span>, the oldest and most noble order of horsemanship, where horses were trained for the army.<\/p>\n

A visit to C\u00f3rdoba equals a visit to the Mezquita<\/strong><\/span>. This mosque – cathedral<\/strong><\/span> has a long history. Construction began in the 8th<\/sup> century<\/strong><\/span> and to this day it still serves as a cathedral.<\/p>\n

Go inside the cathedral and feast your eyes. Around and near the 860 columns<\/strong><\/span> leave a great impression as do the many other sights in this building that is also on the World Heritage List<\/strong><\/span> of the Unesco<\/strong><\/span> World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n
